My 'Fast & Furious' Review

Man.. I just watched Fast & Furious again ( this is the second time actually ) and I'm not bored. Was it a miracle? Damn the car was 'tight' and you should see the booty and shit. Nah, just kidding hehe.. :D

Well I just want to inform that this movie wasn't half bad after all. You should be aware that the third Fast and the Furious film, Tokyo Drift, was the best of the three. That’s not to say that the first two didn’t have their moments.

Fast & Furious (see what they did there with removing the “the”s) follows on the heels of Tokyo Drift, but actually a prequel to it, making it a bit like 2.5 Fast 2.5 Furious. See..

One of the film's main strengths is the fact that it contains less CGI hyper-reality than previous instalments. It also helps immensely that director Justin Lin knows how to bring incredible car action to the screen without relying on masses of jump-cuts and special effects to give the impression something exciting is happening. The stunt driving is amazing, and Fast & Furious contains some of the best car race and car chase set pieces ever filmed. It's worth watching just for opening sequence in which Dom and his team hijack a petrol tanker. The race through downtown Los Angeles for a place on Braga's drug courier convoy isn't half bad, either.

My Best Scene: The opening minutes where Dom’s street racing highwaymen take down a petroleum tanker on a mountain pass is on par with the pre-credit action sequences of the best James Bond films. It really is some of the tightest, best choreographed, best filmed and best edited automotive action ever. Oh yeah, and also where Jordana Brewster ( who played Mia ) is on screen especially in the ending scene, where Brian, Mia and the two 'cojones' are about to hijack Dom's convict bus. Just seeing her face smilling gives me the chill...

My Worst Scene: Any time when the cars are off screen. Any time.

(Note: Fans of the first three movies, boy racers and anyone who feels poorly written dialogue is worth enduring if it means you get to enjoy some of the best car action ever put on film.)

Worth watching? It’s part of The Fast and The Furious series which means if you go into the cinema expecting high art, then you basically haven’t been paying attention to the franchise. If you have then you know what to expect and you won't be disappointed.
